Supporters of  Newcastle United plan to continue their opposition of the clubs owner Mike Ashley by holding a protest march ahead of the match against Liverpool on Saturday.

No one knows how many fans will turn up to take part in the walk which has been organised by a group of supporters calling themselves Time 4 Change which has been given permission by the local authority’s.

Newcastle flans have also been told to bring white handkerchiefs which they have been asked to wave as the teams take the pitch before the start of the match.

The organisers believe that a change in the ownership of the club is the only way that the club can move forward and compete in the Premiership.

“We have felt the utter frustration, like many other fans, at the way the club has been run by Mike Ashley,” said Time 4 Change in a statement.

During  Mike Ashley’s time as owner of the Magpies, there have been many decisions made that have upset the loyal fans including the renaming of St. James Park for a short time, a lack of funds available for transfers, and the appointment of Joe Kinnear as director of football.

Fans are being asked to meet up outside the Town Hall at 10:30 with the protest march to pass through the centre of the city finishing in Leazes Park.

Time 4 Change spokesman Chris McQuillan said: “If we could get 1,000-plus on the day that would be a massive success.”

“Nobody expects Ashley to look at people marching past the stadium and simply run away. However, this will give us a platform and we can move on from there.”
