Manchester United could land the biggest transfer of the summer if Barcelona striker Neymar moves to Old Trafford, a move that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez believes may happen.

And Manchester United believe the Brazilian could be an ideal replacement for Wayne Rooney, who looks set to leave the Theatre of Dreams this summer.

Florentino Perez believes Neymar has ‘an escape plan’ in order for a move away from the Nou Camp, according to Spanish publication, Diario Gol.

With changes likely to be made at Barcelona this summer, most notably the departure of Luis Enrique who has already decided to leave the club at the end of the season, Neymar could be tempted to move away from the Spanish City.

Reports of the Sport Management used by Barcelona seem to be declining and Neymar could be ready to move on and even more so as speculation as to his happiness at being no.2 to Lionel Messi are not convincing and the striker wants to be the leading star of the team, not playing second fiddle to the Argentine maestro.

A move to Manchester United would make him the star of the team. Though Utd have players such as Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Mhiktaryan, Neymar would quite easily surpass them in wages and with his potent goal threat and flair, he could be exactly what the Manchester club needs.

Neymar has not made any indication as to whether he wants to leave the Nou Camp but his £173 million buyout clause instilled within his contract means Barcelona could accept a fee that high in order to re structure the Catalan side. Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City could afford the price and even the reported £400,00 a week that Neymar could ask for if a move to England ever occurred.

Neymar has spoken about the English Premier League and is an admirer. “The Premier League is a championship that amazes me. I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows, someday, I would like to play at it, yes.”

“I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool — these are the teams that are always there fighting. And then you have high-level coaches like Mourinho and Guardiola. These are coaches with whom any players would like to work.”

As the season begins to come to an end, no doubt we shall hear more regarding the future of the Brazilian striker and hopefully, a move to the Premier League will happen this summer.
