Thiago Alcantara wanted by Europe's elite clubs

Manchester City and Real Madrid are eyeing a summer move for Bayern Munich midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, according to reports.

The Spanish international has been a key player for Carlo Ancelotti’s team this season and is now being pursued by Europe’s elite clubs. Thiago moved to the Allianz Arena when he left Barcelona to join Bayern Munich in 2013.

Manchester United were very interested in the Spaniard but he decided to move to Munich where he was managed by current Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola. Many believed that when Guardiola left for Manchester, Thiago would follow but he stayed with the German champions where he has won the league 3 times.

Interest in Thiago has increased this season and Pep Guardiola is keen to bring the Spaniard to the Etihad and work with the 25 year old again. Guardiola could be able to persuade the midfielder in to coming to England but there has also been interest from his former rivals, Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane has been a long time admirer of Thiago and would love to see him at Madrid.

Rumours in Spain are that Zidane will look to sell James Rodriguez, who is interesting many clubs in Europe, and Isco to fund the sale. Barcelona have also been interested in re signing the midfielder but have been asked to pay £77 million for the player. And with their closest rivals wanting to sign the Spanish international, Barcelona will want to bring him back but will need to sell in order to pave way for Thiago.

Bayern Munich are currently trying to extend the contract of Thiago but an offer of over £70 million will surely see the Spanish international make a move away from the Allianz Arena.

Guardiola could be set to bring the 25 year old to Manchester City as he looks to make big changes to the side and with Thiago’s ties to Barcelona, a move to Madrid looks unlikely.
