Torino striker Alessio Cerci has alerted Manchester United to the fact that he would like to play Champions League football before next summer’s World Cup.

Top clubs in Italy’s Serie A are watching the 26-year-old along with clubs in England that include Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool after seeing the former Roma man score nine goals in 17 appearances.

Cerci had plenty of scouts on hand to watch him play for Italy against Nigeria last month at Craven Cottage after which he admitted that he would be open to a move in January.

“I feel ready for the Champions League – I have matured,” he is quoted as saying on TMW.

“I think it’s the right time to make the leap. I want to get there, even before the World Cup. Roma? It’s no secret to go back to where I grew up. Now it’s a dream, but also it’s a goal to go to Juventus.”

Manchester United has been following the winger, so we will have to wait and see if Moyes makes a move to sign him next week.
