And Toon boss Alan Pardew says they fear no one in today’s draw. He said: “I think we put out one of the best teams in the competition.

“They are a top, top team. They are fantastic with the ball and didn’t let us have a moment’s rest.

“I’m highly delighted. It’s been a very tough two games, trust me.

“We deserved it over the two games — our doggedness and our resistance has been of the highest order.”

Anzhi had Medhi Carcela-Gonzalez sent off 10 minutes after the break for a second yellow card.

Newcastle struggled to find a way through until Cisse sprung the offside trap to nod home Sylvain Marveaux’s 93rd-minute cross.

Pardew admitted the red card was crucial. He said: “It had a massive bearing, having a player sent off.

“He had already been booked and it was a late challenge, a yellow card.

“When he was sent off it was then a question of whether we would get the goal in 90 minutes or whether it would go to extra-time. Luckily we got it in the last kick of the game.”

Cisse added: “When the ball came in I thought ‘This is the one’ — and the game would be finished.

“I thank God that I scored, it’s very good.”
