According to Metro quoting German daily tabloid newspaper Bild, former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is on the verge of making a surprise transfer to Newcastle United.
The former Gunner frontman moved to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg after a troubled spell in North London, where despite a promising start to life in Germany he has failed to nail down a starting spot in manager Dieter Hecking’s side.
Bild suggest that a deal could be done for the 27-year-old Dane in the next few days with Wolfsburg quite happy to sell.
Bendtner has had a somewhat chequered past in the Premier League, but as Newcastle struggle to avoid relegation a player of his experience could certainly do the Magpies more good than harm.
