Luuk de Jong

Sky Sports is reporting that sources at Newcastle United understand the club is set to renew their interest in Dutch striker Luuk de Jong.

According to the source Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is ready to sanction as many as four deals during the January transfer window with a striker top of the list.

De Jong currently plays for Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, but is not happy following a £12 million move back in 2012.

Newcastle is confident that they can initially sign him on loan with an option of making it permanent if things work out.

The Magpies also have their eyes set on Montpellier’s 23-year-old midfielder Remy Cabella who is said to be keen on a move to Newcastle which would only increase the number of French players already in the team.

Along with the arrivals the club could see the departure of Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye despite the fact Newcastle has said that no first team players will be allowed to leave.
