Liverpool managing director Ian Ayer has today flown to the Ukraine in order to complete a deal for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Already believed to be deep in negotiations with the £16 million rated player Liverpool has now been made aware that they are not alone in seeking the winger’s signature with interest now being shown from Tottenham and also clubs in Germany.

On the final day of the summer transfer season Southampton bid £10 million for Konoplyanka but his club stuck to their guns saying he was only available for £16.8 which at the time was 20€.

With his contract due to expire in 2015 the Daily Mirror is reporting that his current club think that this might be their best opportunity to sell the Ukrainian international.

The player’s father Oleg increased the notion that his son may be on his way to Anfield telling Ukraine news media outlet Tribuna: “I do not want to say specifically but the information about a transfer to the English club is true.

“He can change clubs later this week. We do not consider offers from Ukraine.”

Having missed out on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers first target Mohamed Salah the Reds boss will be eager to see this deal done before the deadline tomorrow night.
