As Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta’s career begins to come to a close after 700 appearances for the Catalan giants, Barcelona will be looking to bolster their squad for next season.

Iniesta, 32, is still capable of playing on for the next 2 to 3 seasons but will find himself playing more from the bench as the Spaniard’s increasing years start to take a toll.

As his contract comes to an end, reports are that Iniesta will move on, similarly to former team mate, Xavi.

One of the best midfielders in footballing history, Andres Iniesta has had a magnificent career at Barcelona, spanning 17 years and winning all competitive trophies as well as the World Cup and European Championships with the National squad, Spain.

With Iniesta now 32, Barcelona will look to strengthen their midfield with a player capable of opening up defences just like the Spaniard has done and speculation of Liverpool’s Brazilian playmaker, Philippe Coutinho, has been heard in the Spanish city since last summer.

Coutinho, 24, is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League. His creativity, passing and goal scoring ability has made Liverpool one of the best attacking teams in the league. His style would surely suit Barcelona and though Coutinho would prefer a role slightly higher up the field like his current position for Liverpool, he can make a similar transition to Iniesta.

Iniesta has played wide left for Barcelona on occasions and Coutinho’s versatility would benefit the Catalan side.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp would not be interested in selling the Brazilian but if the Spanish giants come calling, very few have turned them down. Playing in the Champions League would be a huge benefit for Coutinho as well as the climate.

If he were to make the move from Anfield to the Nou Camp, Liverpool will surely look to profit from the sale and anything less than 40 million Euro will surely be rejected.
