Kim Kallstrom, Arsenal

Last January Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger surprised everyone by signing Spartak Moscow midfielder Kim Kallstrom even though the 31-year-old Swedish international had fractured vertebrae in his back.

Apparently everything has gone well with his recovery, and there is even a chance that he might make the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Everton after medical staff at the Swedish FA have said he is  “close to being fit.”

He has not however been selected for the Sweden national team who play Turkey in a friendly tonight in Istanbul according to the Daily Mirror.

Wenger admitted after signing Kallsrom that he did it because of the injury to Ramsey, and while Kallstrom certainly brings a useful player to the team for the title run in his real worth may become apparent should Arsenal manage to sign Spartak Moscow Brazilian midfielder Romulo in the summer.

Rumours suggest that the loan move for Kallsrom was a way for the Gunners to get on friendly terms with the Russians before going after the Brazilian playmaker.
