Lacazette and Tolisso celebrating for Lyon

With potentially both clubs losing a striker this summer, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are pursuing Lyon forward, Alexandre Lacazette according to reports.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is yet to sign a new contract and speculation as to whether he will still be at the London club looks to be unlikely and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, could also be on his way out this summer.

Arsene Wenger and Diego Simeone believe the 25 year old French forward to be ideal replacements for Sanchez and Griezmann, though Wenger did attempt to sign the French forward last summer, only to be rejected due to an insufficient offer.

Lacazette, 25, has been unable to establish himself in the French National team, missing out on Didier Deschamps’ World Cup Qualifying squad last week. And due to an uprising of French stars such as Mbappe, Griezmann and even Arsenal’s Oliver Giroud, A move to either the Premier League or La Liga could ensure his place in the National squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In February, Lacazette spoke out regarding his future at Lyon and told Canal+, “I think it’s come, the right moment, I think that this summer will be the time where I will need a change of scenery and discover something else, still with the idea of advancing and progressing in terms of football and as a person”.

With Lacazette ready for a move and Arsene Wenger very likely to stay at Arsenal for at least another year, the French forward could be in favour of a move to London to work under his French compatriot rather than a move to Spain.

Lacazette has scored an amazing 23 goals in 24 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season, 2nd behind Paris St Germain’s Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.
