Arsenal, Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is close to signing a new five-year contract with the Gunners that will see his current wages double to around £100,000 per-week.

The club has already confirmed that both Tomas Rosicky and Per Mertesacker have agreed to new deals as expected with now Ramsey set to be rewarded for a banner season in which he has become an integral part of the team.

The Welshman still has two years remaining on his current contract, but Arsenal wants to tie him down to a long term deal that will see him committed to the club with the London Evening Standard reporting that the talks are going well.

Ramsey had been in fine form for the Gunners scoring 13 goals before injuring himself on Boxing Day, with rumours saying that there is a slim chance he could be fit for Arsenal’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich in Germany next Tuesday.

Ramsey signed for Arsenal in 2008 for £5 million from Cardiff City but his progress in the team was slow after suffering a broken leg after a challenge with Stokes Ryan Shawcross three years ago.
