Everton, Roberto Martinez

Sky Sports is reporting that Everton Manager Roberto Martinez is looking for a replacement to fill the shoes of departed Croatian Nikica Jelavic who left the toffee’s to join Hull City.

Jelavic moved to Humberside following a lack of starting opportunities at Everton who prefer to play on-loan Chelsea player Romelu Lukaku instead.

Everton has just signed former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow, but when it comes to signing a new striker Martinez has said that he will make a move for a player that fits the profile he is looking for.

“What is important is that Aiden McGeady arriving has given us a bit more strength in the wide areas and there are many flexible players who can fill into that number nine position,” Martinez told Everton’s official website.

“But it would be an area that we are looking at before the window closes.

“We are looking at the options to see if there is a player with the right profile who would fit into the squad.”
