Rumours have been flying thick and fast around the Nou Camp these past few days after a reported bust up between Lionel Messi and team coach Luis Enrique, with Catalan TV3 reporting yesterday that the former Celta Vigo man would be sacked after Sunday’s top of the table clash with Atletico Madrid no matter what the final result.

“If I felt the players weren’t on my side, I would leave the club but I don’t feel that is the case,” he said.

Barcelona enters the weekend just one point behind leaders Real Madrid and level on points with Atletico Madrid.

“Managing a squad is about managing egos, that’s what I’m doing. It’s the same with any club.

“It’s not a question of feeling supported by the board; it’s concentrating on my job, which I am 100%.

“Our season is going very well. My mobile phone is overloaded by support of how well we are doing. The feedback and love I get from this club is a massive boost for me.”
