Manchester United and Chelsea are primed to make an offer for Brazilian forward Neymar, this summer, according to reports.

Neymar, 25, is currently contracted to Barcelona and is having his best season for the Catalan giants. But The Sunday Times believe the Brazilian could be offered a huge contract from the English Premier League, with Manchester United and Chelsea ready to offer Barcelona £170 million and Neymar a contract worth £21 million a year.

With Barcelona having the best attacking trio in Europe of Messi, Suarez and Neymar, the Catalan club will not want to sell the youngest of the trio, who sports journalist Guillem Balague believes could be the best footballer in the world.

“What’s interesting is I think people are saying for the first time Neymar is the best player in the world, He’s reached a level that no-one else is at. I would say he is ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo”, said Balague.

Neymar has been on top form for Barcelona this season, scoring 9 goals and 10 assists in 24 league games and played a pivotal role in the come back 2nd leg against Paris St Germain in the Champions League last month.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Neymar and would love him to be at Old Trafford next season. Reports of an offer last summer for the Brazilian were turned down and now Mourinho may test Barcelona’s resolve again this summer.

Mourinho knows how important Neymar is to Barcelona and has dismissed reports of a move for the player but with Manchester United desperately missing a forward and someone who is capable of solely winning a match, an offer could be produced to the Catalan giants.

Neymar is believed to be happy in Spain and La Liga but with Suarez and Messi seemingly ahead of him in stature at the club, a move to come out of the shadows of his South American team mates could be possible.

The Brazilian has also recently shown his admiration for the Premier League. His flair and skill is a joy to watch and he is maturing with every minute played on the pitch. If he is to leave the Catalan club then the Premier League looks to be his next destination.

Neymar scored his 100th goal in 177 games since joining Barcelona in 2013 on Sunday evening in the 4-1 away win against Granada.
