Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has been accused of a 2.8€ million tax fraud over Neymar’s signing, and with elections at the Nou Camp not far off his chances of retaining the presidency have been dealt a severe blow.

For some time now there have been a lot of questions as to the exact fee that Barcelona paid to Brazilian club Santos for Neymar with prosecutors claiming that the Catalan club paid 94.8 million (€82.7m in transfer fees and €12.1m in taxes),yet declared the deal to be only 57.1€ million.

Now Bartomeu along with former club president Sandro Rosell are being accused of trying to hide the true figure paid for Neymar defrauding the government of 2.8€ million.

Bartomeu will be in court later this year to present his side of the storey along with Sandro Rosell, who resigned in January over the signing.
