Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is already preparing himself for life after French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye, after it appears that Arsenal are determined to sign him.

“If he stays, great, and if he doesn’t stay, we can get someone equally as good in,” says Pardew

The Toon boss claims Newcastle must sign a quality replacement for Yohan Cabaye if he is sold before the transfer window closes.

The Magpies have already said no to a £12 million bid from Arsenal, but with Paris Saint-Germain supposedly no longer interested may have to relax their valuation of the player.

Cabaye was absent today from Newcastle’s sharing of the points with West Ham in another sign that his time on Tyneside has come to an end.

“The situation is quite simple,” said Pardew, “we need to resolve the situation and get ourselves in a position where if he stays, great, and if he doesn’t stay, we can get someone equally as good in.

“That’s where it is and I don’t want to say any more than that.”
