PSG are all set to battle Tottenham for out of favour Spanish international Juan Mata in January according to today’s Sunday Telegraph.

The 25-year-old has become less important in the Chelsea squad since the return of the “Special One” and yet while Chelsea does not use him they are reluctant to let anyone else have him either.

PSG made approaches to Chelsea towards the end of the summer transfer window, but were rebuffed in their approach to sign the Spaniard.

Despite the improved performance of Fernando Torres who scored two goals midweek against Schalke in the Champions League, Mourinho still feels the need to sign a world class striker, and is willing to let Demba Ba leave.

Chelsea take on Manchester City today at Stamford Bridge in what must be considered a six-point game if the Blues hope to keep up with Arsenal and Liverpool who both won their matches yesterday.
