Lukas Podolski, Arsenal

If rumors are true it looks as if German international Lukas Podolski will be leaving Arsenal in the summer.

There was plenty of speculation during the January transfer window linking the 28-year-old as part of a deal to bring Schalke youngster Julian Draxler to the Emirates, yet despite the German saying on Twitter:

“It was made up, there was nothing in it. This was confirmed to me by the coach. And I also knew that there was nothing was in It #nonsense #notruth #dontbelievethepapers.”

Then just last week there was talk that he was going to be sold to not only raise cash and take a big wage off of the books to make room for Italian bad boy Mario Balotelli who manager Arsene Wenger is set to make as his big summer signing.

This morning Italian sports website Tutto Mercato Web quoting a story in Gazzetta dello Sport is saying that sources in London are saying that Podolski will not renew his contract and is planning to leave the club in the summer.

Inter Milan are now linked with Podolski as a possible destination with the Italian club said to be testing the water with Arsenal, but we would not read too much into this as they have been linked with dozens of player since being bought by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir.

While Podolski is a big favourite with the fans at Arsenal he doesn’t get as much playing time as he would like so it is easy to see why he might want to move on, and while time will tell it is our guess that the German will be moving on in the summer.
