Roberto Di Matteo’s Blues were made to work for their Group E win after going ahead through Mata’s 33rd-minute opener.

But three goals in the final 11 minutes — a stunning David Luiz free-kick, Mata’s second and a Ramires tap-in — sealed it.

Asked if Chelsea can be the first-ever team to retain the Champions League, midfielder Lampard said: “It’s a huge ask but we have got a real chance.

“We believe in ourselves right now and will keep working hard to get there. This was a great result for us but a tough game against a bit of an unknown.

“They played very good football and we had to bide our time but the goals came in the end.

“At 1-0 they created a few half-chances and hit a post in the second half but, once we got the second goal, I thought we dominated.”

Di Matteo added: “We were a little slow in the first half but much better in the second half.

“All in all it’s a good scoreline for us, three points and a clean sheet — away from home too.

“Petr Cech made a crucial save at 1-0, while we were pleased with our goals at the end.”
