Italian Serie A side Napoli has confirmed that they want to make on loan Liverpool goal keeper Pepe Reina a permanent signing at the end of the season.

After Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers signed Belgium international Simon Mignolet for the Reds long-time goalkeeper Pepe Reina was sent to Napoli on a season long loan where he has performed well for Rafa Benitez’s side.

Napoli director of sports Riccardo Bigon has according to Sky News said: “Reina is a very important player both on the field and off.

“At the end of the season we will talk with him and Liverpool, we are interested to hold him here.

“He has been fine in Naples, he has a very close relationship with the coach (Rafa Benitez) and also his family has settled very well.”
