Napoli could outbid Arsenal again for Brazilian

After having lost out on Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain to Italian Serie A side Napoli, the Italians are ready to do it again beating Arsenal to the signature of Brazilian midfielder Gustavo.

Gustavo when he first heard of Arsenals interest welcomed the news as he has now slipped down the pecking order at Bayern Munich with new manager Pep Guardiola preferring Javi Martinez.

The 26-year-old is keen to play more first team football, in an effort to guarantee him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

‘My contract with Bayern runs until 2015 but it is very important that I play first-team football to keep getting called up for Brazil,’ he said upon arrival in Basel for Brazil’s friendly with Switzerland on Wednesday.

‘I am in a very delicate situation at Bayern and this needs sorting out. I have personal and professional reasons to move.

‘I have heard about the Arsenal interest. It’s a big club we’re talking about here so of course I’d like to play for them.
