Leo Messi is the latest footballing personality to give his thoughts on the possibility of Neymar signing for Barcelona.

In an interview with the Qatari radio station Alkass, the Barcelona forward said the Brazilian would be “a marvellous acquisition” but stressed that no-one apart from Neymar himself knew if or when he was going to sign for Barcelona.

“Only the player knows whether or not he will sign for the club, no-one else knows,” said Messi.

“He would be a marvellous acquisition for us. He is one of those players that offers individual solutions that very few players are capable of.”

‘La Pulga’ also spoke about Barcelona’s 0-7 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals, admitting:

“Bayern were better than us in both matches, but I still think that there were some factors that went against us during the tie and the 0-7 scoreline was exaggerated.”

When asked about his thoughts on former Barça boss Pep Guardiola joining the Bavarian club next season, Messi declared: “Pep will be successful at any team he coaches, because of his understanding of football and the way he reads matches.”

The Argentine also spoke about his desire to win the World Cup next year with his country.

“The only thing I want is to win the World Cup, without thinking about whether or not that would make me the best player of all time.”
