Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini does not think that either Liverpool or Tottenham will be competing with his team for the Premiership title.

Currently City are in eighth place in the table having lost four times away from home this season, and despite the lack of form when not playing at the Etihad are still the bookmakers favourites to win the title.

While the City boss admits it is going to be one of the closest title races in years he does not expect Liverpool or Tottenham to be among the challengers seeing Arsenal and Chelsea and Manchester United as his main rivals.

‘The Premier League is very close this year,’ he said. ‘There are six clubs challenging, with very little difference between one team and another.

‘We have a lot of points to fight for, and I think at the end it will be between Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.’

City face Tottenham on Sunday at the Etihad following a two week layoff for international matches in what should be a good test of their title ambitions.
