Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has said that he would like to play for Liverpool despite an interest being showed by Everton.

The 20-year-old Nigerian has already been linked to a January move to either Everton, Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin after Lazio rejected offers from them last summer.

Despite the chance to join Everton Onazi says he would love to play for Liverpool, and is open to a January move to Anfield.

The Nigerian international has continued to impress this season in Serie A bringing him to the attention of Liverpool and Fiorentina.

Onazi played for Nigeria against Italy at Craven Cottage on Monday with Liverpool scouts there to watch him.

Fiorentina has already made enquires to Lazio to try and get first option on the midfielder should the Rome side decide to sell him for what is thought to be around £6 million.

When asked if he would like to play for Liverpool the youngster said: “I would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League.

“Liverpool? They are a huge team and are attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them.”
