Robert Lewandowski

Arsenal and Manchester City are both ready to fight it out over Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski in January after finding out that Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola is no longer interested in signing the Polish international whose contract is up next summer.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini may also be prepared to make Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko a part of any deal made.

Cash rich Arsenal meanwhile are in desperate need of a world-class striker after failing to sign everyone they went after last summer to help bolster their attack and are willing to offer Dortmund £25 million for a player that would become a free agent in the summer.

The interest Arsenal is showing could depend on what happens with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, as they have also been linked to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

That move highlights Arsenal fears that they will not be able to recruit Wayne Rooney from Manchester United or Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

Everything regarding Lewandowski moving to the Premiership however will depend on Bayer Munich who had an agreement in place for the Pole, yet if it is true that Guardiola does not want him the prolific goalscorer is sure to find a home in the Premiership.
