DNIPRO executive director Andriy Rusol is blaming Liverpool for not being able to complete the deal for Ukrainian winger Yehven Konoplyanka claiming that the Reds never paid them in an article published in the Daily Star newspaper.

Liverpool claimed that the deal fell through because Dnipro was unable to get all the necessary paperwork completed on time, yet Rusol is countering that by saying that Liverpool did not deliver the money.

He said: “We were waiting for delivery from Liverpool for the transfer of money, but this did not happen.”

The former Ukrainian player also made a comment that if the Reds were so eager to do a deal for Konoplyanka that representatives could have arrived a few days earlier.

He said: “It is not our fault, representatives of Liverpool could arrive a day or two earlier”

Despite Liverpool’s failure to land a single player during the January window manager Brendan Rodgers still thinks that they are in a position to achieve their aims.

Rodgers said: “If you look at the position we’re in with 15 games to go, we have shown consistently that we have the squad to compete.”
