Pastore, Menez

Liverpool fans must be starting to wonder if they are going to see any new players come in during the January transfer window after Brendan Rodgers admitting the other day that it is a difficult window to do business in as many clubs either involved in the Champions league or a title challenge are reluctant to sell, and if anything are themselves looking to buy just as Liverpool is.

Reports from the Liverpool fan website Liverpoolkop are saying today that the Reds sent scouts to France during the week to watch the Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final between Paris Saint Germain and Bordeaux a match that the Parisians won 3-1.

While none of the Bordeaux players have been linked in the past to Liverpool several PSG players have been including the following.

Javier Pastore

Pastore is wanted by both Liverpool and Roma and if you believe what he has told the press he will be going nowhere this January despite finding it difficult to get into the team.

The 24-year-old Argentinean playmaker joined PSG from Genoa in 2011 for 42€ and was said to want regular football ahead of next summer’s World Cup with Roma leading the chase to sign him due to his close relationship with the clubs sporting director Walter Sabatini who he worked with at Palermo.

Pastore told the French press: “My place is here. I have a relationship with Roma’s sporting director [Walter Sabatini], but that does not mean I will leave during the winter market.

“I will do everything I can play to play more and secure my place in the team.”

Jeremy Menez

Menez is the next PSG player to be linked to Liverpool yet the former Roma winger is also claiming that he is going nowhere in January telling  Sky Sports: , “I didn’t talk with anyone about a winter departure because it was out of the question to leave.”

The previous two seasons saw the 26-year-old score 17 goals along with 24 assists for the French Champions, but for some reason he has spent the better part of this season on the bench.

Given the fact he is out of contract in the summer Liverpool might try to get him at a reduced price.
