The BBC is reporting that Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season thwarting Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers from getting the man he had pencilled in to help ease Liverpool’s problem in this position after Rodgers listed a left-back as his number one priority this transfer window.

Bertrand has only made three starts for Chelsea this season, but did feature in the 2012 Champions League final win over Bayern Munich.

“Ryan brings a lot of big-game experience, so he’ll be really good for us,” said Villa manager Paul Lambert.

The England international now becomes the 24th player that the Blues have sent out on loan to other clubs yet despite going out on loan manager Jose Mourinho is confident that he still has a future with Chelsea

”He is a good player, he needs to play and he’s happy with that,” said the Chelsea manager.
