Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon, Ilori,

Faced with the news that Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates is going to be out for at least six months with a knee injury Liverpool are now desperately seeking defenders.

French defender Aly Cissokho has just been signed a year-long loan from Valencia, but with the retirement of Jamie Carragher and the likelihood that out of favour Slovakian international Martin Skrtel could be on his way out during the next two weeks, not to mention the fact that Barcelona are looking to make a bid for Daniel Agger.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has once again turned his attention to Sporting Lisbon’s London born Tiago Ilori.

Liverpool put a bid in earlier this summer of £3 million that was rejected by Sporting, but the British tabloid newspaper the Daily Mirror is suggesting that Liverpool are prepared to go back to Portugal with a much improved offer for the centre-back.
