Liverpool has entered the race along with Manchester United and Everton to sign Porto midfielder Fernando.

It had been thought that the Brazilian had been close to a move to Napoli, but now the Daily Express is saying that Liverpool is also now in the race for his signature.

Reports emerging from Portugal are saying that Liverpool scouts were present for Porto’s match against Benfica last Sunday and that it was Fernando they were there to watch.

The 26-year-olds contract is up in the summer leading to speculation that he could be signed for a cut price.

Liverpool will have to act fast though if they want to sign him as his agent Antonio Araujo is hinting that an extension with Porto is on the cards.

Araujo said: “We’ve come to an agreement with Porto. “The only thing that is missing are the details. Once they’re agreed we’ll sign.”

His statement could also just be a tactic to get teams to make a move for his player who has been at Porto since 2007 playing over 200 games for the club.
