Yann M'Vila

Normally reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Liverpool has suffered a setback in trying to sign French midfielder Yann M’Vila from Russian club Rubin Kazan.

Both Liverpool and Napoli are said to be chasing the 23-year-old who has failed to settle in Russia since moving from Rennes.

Liverpool is reported to have offered Rubin Kazan two million euro’s to sign the Frenchman on loan till the end of the season, but Napoli is prepared according to Sky Italia to offer the Russians ten million for a permanent move.

Should Liverpool want to compete with Rafa Benitez’s team they will hold the advantage as the player has said he would like to play in the Premiership and the fact that his best friend Mamadou Sakho is already at Anfield could be the winning card as Reds boss Brendan Rodgers hopes to strengthen the squad this month.
