JOHN TERRY could return a hero against Liverpool today but will still be banished to the youth team during the week.

The Chelsea centre-back hopes to start at Stamford Bridge after completing his four-game ban.

Yet he will spend the next few days with the kids as his team-mates will be on international duty.

Boss Roberto Di Matteo admits Terry will benefit from not heading away with England for matches.

He said: “It helps when you can have a little breather. Particularly with the schedule we will have.

“I question how much these friendlies are worthwhile all over the world. Particularly in England where we have lots of cups and competitions.

“I know the coaches want to try out some stuff but I am really not sure how much this benefits any of the players who are travelling from different time zones.

“We will train but it will be a small group. We link them up with the youth team and have a good look at our younger players.

“Normally there will only be three or four senior players left. It is a good experience for the younger players.

“John not playing for England will hopefully give him a good chance to prolong his career.”
