Jordi Alba hopes that Barcelona will secure the Primera Division title as soon as possible in order to allow them to focus on the Champions League.

The Catalans currently hold a 13-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid in the league table, and Alba has little doubt that they will eventually be crowned as Spanish champions again after missing out on the title last term.

“We have to wrap up the league title as soon as possible by winning games and then continue to win knock out matches in the Champions League,” Alba said at a press conference.

“If we had been knocked out [by AC Milan] we would have been feeling very different. Now we are looking towards our next games in a very good mood.”

Barcelona will have to deal with Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and Alba believes the French giants will prove to be a tough opponent.

“Of course they will be difficult opponents but I am pleased with the draw. We have learnt a lot from the last tie [against Milan] which we will take with us into the matches with PSG.

“We will try and beat them so we can get to the semi-finals. We had no preferences. PSG are a very complete team, they are strong in defence and they have players of real quality in attack. The draw this year is what it is and there’s no point talking more about it.”

The first leg of the quarter-final tie will be held in Paris on April 2.
