Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to offer Chelsea £40 million for their Brazilian defender David Luiz.

Guardiola wanted to sign Luiz while he was in charge at Barcelona, and now having moved to Bayern he is ready once more to go after his man.

The Catalan was making muted inquiries regarding the defender during the Confederations cup which Brazil went on to win.

Bayern just lost the German Super Cup last weekend 4-2 to Borussia Dortmund, with an inside source saying: “The performance exposed some weaknesses that Pep believes could be sorted out by bringing in Luiz.”

Mourinho meanwhile is insisting that the 26-year-old is going nowhere yet there has been talk all summer of Luiz not being able to fit into Mourinho’s system, and that he needs to improve his decision making while on the ball.

Chelsea paid Portuguese club Benfica £21 million two years ago, and should they sell would turn a nice profit from the deal.
