Uruguayan teammate of Luis Suarez, Diego Forlan believes that should Wenger manage to bring Suarez to London it would fill the gap left by Thierry Henry turning Arsenal back into true title contenders.

So far the Gunners have made two attempts at signing Suarez offering first £30 million and then £40 million and £1 the fee needed to trigger a clause that allowed Arsenal to discuss terms with the Liverpool striker.

Website CaughtOffside are saying that Arsenal are now preparing a British record breaking bid of £51million to lure Suarez to London, along with a club record salary of £150,000 per week.

Michael Owen has been quoted as saying that it does not make sense for Suarez to stay in the Premiership, and that it would be a mistake to move to Arsenal when a club in Europe would suit both him and Liverpool better.

His international teammate Diego Forlan however thinks that Suarez is exactly what the Gunners need saying:

‘If they manage to sign Luis, then I think, with the players they already have, they would be serious title contenders again.’

‘Only Luis knows what his plans are but he would be a great signing for Arsenal.

Of course, Arsenal are a very strong team but, for the last years, they have not been able to compete with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea for the title.

‘They have had very good players but have maybe lacked that one special player who you need to win a league as strong as the Premier League.

‘United have had Wayne Rooney and City have had Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez but Arsenal have struggled since Thierry Henry left.’

So far Wenger has failed to bring any of the players he has been looking at to the Emirates this summer leaving Gooners to think that a new signing may not happen.
