Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas insists he is happy at Barcelona and he has backed fellow former Gunner Alex Song to shine at the Nou Camp.

Fabregas vows to fight for Barcelona future

Reports in the Italian media over the past few weeks have suggested that Serie A giants Milan will look to sign Fabregas on loan in the forthcoming January transfer window following the midfielder’s mixed start to the 2012/13 campaign.

However, the Spain international says he is fully committed to his boyhood club, and admits he will do everything in his power to succeed at the Nou Camp.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, Fabregas said: “I am calm and happy. I’m happy to have made the decision to return [to Barcelona].

“I have said since the first day that this was the most exciting professional challenge of my life, it is my dream to succeed at the club and I am here to fight to the end.”

Fabregas saw his former Emirates Stadium team-mate Song join him in Catalonia earlier this summer, and he believes the Cameroon international will go from strength to strength after a stellar campaign in north London last term.

“Yes, he (Song) has done very well,” the 25-year-old added.

“He is a player with great footballing ability, he defends well, has good positioning and will learn a lot here.

“He is a defensive midfielder, but I saw many Arsenal matches last year, and I was surprised to see him in playmaker positions, towards goal.”
