Suarez

Yesterday we reported that William Hill had suspended betting on Luis Suarez joining Arsenal, following a spate of large bets being placed on him joining the Gunners.

Now in an epic twist it appears that Chelsea are interested with reports saying that the Blues were willing to pay $52 million plus a salary of $7.1 million per-season for the Uruguayan hitman following having lost out on signing his countryman fellow striker Edinson Cavani.

Cavani had been new manager Jose Mourinho’s number one summer transfer target yet the Blues were quibbling over the 26-year-olds astronomical buy-out-clause of $81.5 million saying that it was too much.

Qatari owned French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain also have a new manager former French national team manager Laurent Blanc who is keen to make his mark by signing the Napoli striker.

Since taking over at the Parc des Princes following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, Blanc has mentioned Cavani as a possible target saying:

“Cavani is a player that I love, like a lot of people. I saw him play several times with Naples and Uruguay and should he be part of the Parisian team, I would be very happy.”

Having now given up on a player they thought was worth $30 million less than Napoli’s valuation the Blues have turned their attention to Luis Suarez and Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski.

Meanwhile Liverpool have according to the British tabloid Daily Mirror given Suarez three weeks to put in a transfer request or they will expect him to remain on Merseyside where he still has three years remaining on his current contract.

While the Arsenal and Chelsea talk is certainly exciting, from what Suarez has said, and also for Liverpool’s perspective they would both rather that he went to Real Madrid than face playing against Liverpool next season.
