After playing some of their trademark football earlier in the week during their 0-2 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Barcelona were expected to cruise past 6th place Real Sociedad when they met in San Sebastian on Saturday night in La Liga.
Yet despite crushing Rayo Vallecano in their previous league match 6-0 the Basque side once again proved to be too tough for the Catalans away from the Nou Camp inflicting a 3-1 defeat on Lionel Messi’s team while having everyone wonder if they can still win the league.
Many of Barcelona’s fans are blaming trainer Tata Martino’s decision to rest a number of first team players including Dani Alves, Javier Mascherano, Alexis Sanchez and Xavi for the loss that now sees rivals real Madrid go top of the table following their 3-0 win over Elche at the Santiago Bernabeu.
