METRO is running a story this morning claiming that reports coming out of Italy are saying that the Gunners are set to make a move for AS Roma striker Mattia Destro.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spoken of his desire to bring in another striking option this January after Theo Walcott has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Tottenham.

The majority of the speculation on who Wenger will try and sign has been focused on Porto’s Jackson Martinez and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata with Wenger said to now be keen on Destro.

A sports programme on Italian television station RAI is claiming that Roma are trying to fend off Arsenal’s interest in the 22-year-old who has only made four appearances for Roma this season competing for a place with Francesco Totti and former Arsenal player Gervinho for a spot in Rudi Garcia’s team.
