Arsenal, Newcastle United

According to reports in the Sunday Mirror newspaper Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to trigger a £8 million release clause in Loic Remy’s contract with QPR.

The French international has spent the entire season at St James Park playing on loan for Newcastle United after QPR were relegated last season.

Wenger hopes to snatch Remy right from under the nose of the Tynesiders who have relied on the Frenchman’s 13 goals to keep them firmly in the top half of the table, and with the lure of Champions League football the Gunners are sure they can get Remy to jump ship.

With it looking like Lukas Podolski is on his way out of the Emirates the 27-year-old Remy would be a bargain signing, that once his release clause is triggered QPR who posted a loss of £65.4 million would have no chance of keeping him at Loftus Road.
