Massimiliano Allegri

Serie A giants AC Milan have fired Coach Massimiliano Allegri along with all his backroom staff following a 4-3 loss in the league to Italian minnows Sassuolo.

The Milan club has been struggling of late lying in 11th place some 30 points behind league leaders Juventus and some 20 points behind Napoli who is currently in the all-important 3rd place Champions League spot.

A statement from the clubs website said: “AC Milan announces that it has dismissed as coach of the first team, with immediate effect, Mr Massimiliano Allegri and his staff.

“AC Milan would like to thank Mr Allegri and his staff for the work done and wishes them the best professional success. The team will be run on a caretaker basis by Mr Mauro Tassotti.”

On the international front Milan has fared better qualifying for the last 16 knockout round after finishing second to Barcelona in Group H.

Even the Milan players knew all was not well with talk of former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf taking over the job at the end of the season, yet the general consensus at the moment is that fan favourite Pippo Inzaghi will take over until the end of the season after bad boy Mario Balotelli posted a photo of the Rossoneri favourite on Instagram with the hash tag #respect.

Despite winning the Scudetto after joining the club in 2010 Allegri will not be missed by the fans, and proves yet again how unstable a manager’s job is in the world of soccer joining former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas in the unemployment line.
