Italian giants AC Milan are now the front runners to sign Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen after the Danish international turned down a move to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

MilanNews.it is reporting that AC Milan are now looking at Eriksen having given up on their pursuit of Keisuke Honda, while at the same time speculating that Roma will also be making a bid should Erik Lamela move to Tottenham.

The website is reporting that Eriksen would not mind moving to Italy after having spent his summer holidays in Venice.

One of the criteria for a new club is thought to be Champions League football which would rule out any move to Liverpool, Tottenham, or Roma which would suggest Milan would be the sole choice providing they can progress after drawing 1-1 with PSV earlier in the week in their first leg Champions League qualifying match.
