Many bookies have slashed the odds of Luis Suarez completing a stunning move to Arsenal.

The Liverpool forward confirmed he wished to leave the club last month and Real Madrid had been favourites to sign the player until yesterday's news.

Having started the day at longer than 50/1 to join Arsenal, William Hill have stopped receiving bets on Suarez to join the Gunners following a surge of betting.

After stating his desires to leave the country, a move to Arsenal is still unlikely, however anything can happen in football.

Arsenal look set to finally spend big this summer and the prospect of a Suarez/Gonzalo Higuain forward line-up is sure to appease Gunners' fans across the country.

During his time in England so far Suarez and controversy have gone hand-in-hand.

Due to his on the field actions, Suarez has been banned for in total 19 Premier League matches! The Uruguayan received an 8 game ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra in 2011, before a 10 match suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic last campaign.

Liverpool are reluctant to sell their main man to anyone, let alone a league rival and Arsenal would have to blow Liverpool away with a huge offer!

Higuain

Arsenal's move for Higuain moved a step closer last night after the player's father admitted a deal was 'very close'.

The Real Madrid forward was in the middle of a transfer 'tug of war' between Arsenal and Juventus, however the latter have signed Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, leaving the path clear for Arsenal.

The two clubs have agreed a fee and Higuain is expected to sign a three-year-deal with the Gunners soon.
