It would appear as if Football in the USA or soccer as they call it there is finally starting to take off in a big way with a a record 25milion people tuning in to watch the USA’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Portugal higher rating than this year’s NBA final’s that could only attract just 15,5 million.

Despite the fact it did not come close to figures seen during the NFL playoffs or Superbowl it was still ESPN’s most watched event outside of NFL or college football, and bodes well for the future as soccer finally starts to grip the American nation.

The USA next play their final Group G game against Germany on Thursday with a midday kick-off on the East Coast that should prove prohibitive for many to watch as the American national team hope to move on to the knockout stage of the competition.
