The former Tottenham striker is desperate for a quality signing to replace Becks, who quit the club in December.

And with Chelsea refusing to give Lamps a new contract at the end of the season, Galaxy star Keane reckons the midfielder will be a perfect fit in the MLS.

The Irishman, 32, said: “We want to get good players in.

“It is good for the association here, as well as Galaxy, to be linked with big-name players — and that is what Frank is.

“Hopefully we can get him.”

Galaxy can match Lampard’s Chelsea wages of around £4million a year although there have also been offers from China, Europe and other Premier League clubs eager to land the 34-year-old midfielder.

One stumbling block to a possible move is Lampard’s desire to extend his England career and reach 100 caps.

Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson believes trying to monitor the 94-cap ace from long distance could be a problem.

Hodgson, speaking after Lampard scored the clincher in last week’s 2-1 win over Brazil, said: “I hope we will keep Frank in England. I know he will have a lot of offers.

“I’m hoping we’ll still see him if not in England then Europe, which will make my task easier.

“If he goes further afield and follows David, it complicates matters — but it doesn’t mean your career is over with England.”

Beckham, who joined Paris Saint-Germain last month, quit the European scene in 2007 to join LA Galaxy. But the 37-year-old went on to win another 19 caps.

Lampard’s Chelsea pal John Terry has warned his team-mates not to let the Europa League derail their bid for a top-four finish.

The outgoing Champions League holders start slumming it in the much-derided Europa League tomorrow with a trip to Sparta Prague.

Blues skipper Terry said: “We have to make sure we are switched on in European weeks, because games will be coming on Thursdays and Sundays, which is a different situation for us.

“We must make sure that after these European matches we come back and win our league fixtures.

“A lot of the time we are going to be a game behind the teams around us by the time we play.

“We are now in the Europa League and there is one message — we have to go and win it. Simple as that.”

Chelsea fly out to the Czech Republic today and boss Rafa Benitez is boosted by the return of Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel after African Nations Cup duty.

Terry and fellow defender Gary Cahill have also shaken off knocks and been declared fit for the last-32 first-leg clash.

Former Blues defender Jiri Jarosik is a doubt for Sparta Prague after injuring a thigh muscle.
