JACK BUTLAND is in talks with Liverpool over a potential move — according to acting Birmingham chairman Peter Pannu.

Brum have financial woes and England keeper Butland is one of their prized assets.

The Midlands club turned down a £6million offer from Southampton for the whizkid in the summer and the club are braced for bids in January.

Pannu said: “I understand there are talks with Liverpool.

“I understand that Everton might be interested. Southampton gave me an offer in the past – I know not whether they want him.

“He is a phenomenal player.”

Birmingham lie 19th in the Championship and with some big earners on their books, Pannu admits the club could be forced to sell players when the transfer window opens.

He added: “Give me a £15million offer for Jack Butland, can I say no?

“I have rejected £6million from Southampton but I rejected it when our finances were OK.

“As the time is ticking, I might not be able to reject it if I get something similar.”
