Manchester United striker Robin van Persie put himself in the record books last night becoming Holland’s all-time leading goal scorer following his hat-trick against Hungary.

The Dutch hit man’s third goal took his international tally to 41 goals, one more than Patrick Kluivert’s 40 which is quite remarkable if you take into account that van Persie is yet to be a big player in any major tournament with the majority of his goals coming against lesser competition during the qualifying rounds.

RVP will be looking to add to his tally of goals during the World Cup in Brazil next summer where he is sure to play a starring role.

Immediately following his third record setting goal of the night van Persie ran towards assistant coach Patrick Kluivert on the touchline to celebrate the moment that produced a picture that will be a part of Dutch footballing history.
