Liverpool striker Luis Suarez joins forces with 888Poker

888poker landed a big coup last week when they signed on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to be their new Poker Ambassador joining other well know personalities from the wold of sports that include Canadian mixed martial artist and the former 3-time Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre along with Australian former international cricketer superstar Shane Warne, a man many consider to be one of the best fast bowlers in the history of the sport.

Uruguayan footballer Luis Suarez is no slouch either when it comes to sport after being named both the Footballers Association Player of the Year along with the Football Writers Player of the Year just one short year of making world-wide headlines for biting Chelsea’s Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm following a tussle in the penalty box.

Following the incident Suarez received a ten-match ban which carried on into the new season meaning that the Liverpool striker could not play in the first five games of the Reds campaign, and despite that he still managed to end up being the Premier Leagues leading scorer with 31-goals.

This summer Suarez is expected to be in the headlines once more as he spearheads the Uruguayan attack with Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani when Uruguay takes on England in their Group D match to be held at the Arena de São Paulo, in São Paulo Brazil on the 19th June, in a match that could decide which two teams will emerge from the group that also contains Italy, a team that always seems to come good for the World Cup.

It will not only be the World Cup where Suarez will make headlines either with the 27-year-old widely expected to be a target for Champions League winners Real Madrid whose president Florentino Perez sees Suarez as his next Galatico after having signed Gareth Bale the summer before for 100 million euro’s.

Liverpool is saying that their star player is not for sale at any price but with the Spanish giants said to be willing to offer as much as £150 million it is hard to imagine the clubs owners in Boston not sitting up and taking notice.

As for Suarez he is maintaining his stance that he and his family are quite settled on Merseyside and that he has no desire to leave Liverpool, yet it is hard to imagine that growing up on the streets of Montevideo Suarez never once dreamt of playing for either Real Madrid or Barcelona which surely must be every South American boys dream.

As for 888poker they could not have signed a bigger star at a better time as was evident when
Senior Vice President of 888Poker Itai Pazner could not hide his excitement when introducing him as the latest member of the 888Poker team to the press in Barcelona saying: Luis Suarez is an incredible sporting talent – passionate, competitive, technically gifted, and emotionally invested in the game. It’s those qualities that make him an exciting player to watch, in poker as well as football. It’s fantastic to have him on board.”

As for Poker players watching on it will be interesting to see if Suarez can bring the same skill and excitement to the green felt as he does to the pitch, and whether the skill and dexterity he shows with the ball can be repeated with chips as he continues to prove that he gives 100% to whatever challenge he takes on.
