Liverpool, Isco

In what the website CaughtOffside is calling an exclusive Liverpool is preparing a club record bid for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco who has also been linked with Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

Liverpool’s bid is subject to the Merseyside club making it into next seasons Champions League and would be a huge statement from the Liverpool owners that the club once more intends to compete at the highest level.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers sees the 21-year-old as a natural long-term replacement for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and given his age is an investment that the club feels will only increase as the Spanish U-21 international develops.

Despite interest from Manchester City and his former manager Manuel Pellegrini, Isco joined Real Madrid from Malaga for £25 million last summer but has so far not been given the playing time that he had expected with coach Carlo Ancelotti preferring to use Gareth Bale and Luka Modric in midfield roles leaving the young Spaniard make only one start for Los Blancos so far in 2014.

Before joining Real Madrid Isco was a star player for Malaga scoring 17 goals in 80 appearances while helping to get the Rosaleda side into the Champions League for the first time in their history.

A bid of £37 million will certainly get Real Madrid to consider their options and could very well help force Arsenal to come to the conclusion that they must be prepared to match this amount or pay the 45€ million that Schalke want for their similar player Julian Draxler.
